Anyone who knows me knows that I am a big fan of Hunter S. Thompson, the original 'gonzo' journalist. So I am sad to say that last Sunday Hunter took his own life with a .45 calibre handgun. I am sad that he is gone, but also happy for him in some strange way. He always lived on his terms, so it is of little surprise that he would die on them, foreshadowed by an early speaking engagement:

Question: How do you want to be remembered when you die?
HST: I don't have to worry about that.

At best Hunter could be described as a genius, one of, if not the best journalist of the 20th century. At worst, as an abusive prick with many childish tendencies. I'll just remember his fantastic body of work.

Keep on talking, you strange, savage, twisted sonovabitch...
