This is a fun album. Some of the more jaded music fans may not like this, as it does get, how to put it, well, fun! I am not ashamed to admit I love this sort of sound. The album begins with a funky bossanova number, and the smooth beats don't stop from there. De Phazz is a German collective, with male and female vocals in English and French. The CD packaging is lush, with full lyrics, and clever photographs of the band (see cover...).

The music is modern urban lounge at its best. Picture a setting: It's Saturday afternoon. You're on your porch with all your friends, and the weather is georgous. You've all had a couple of beers or wines, and the conversation is flowing freely. The view of the lake and hills is inspiring, and Naural Fake is playing. Yeah, it's that good. Slick beats, great vocals, clever samples, and a stable of no less than 15 live musicians make it their goal to make you have fun, and resistance is futile!

De Phazz is not going to dazzle you with clever lyrics. Athough they do tell some stories, the themes are mostly generic, and the words are seldom deep. This does not really detract from the album though. This is an album to be processed by your rump, not your head. It is a downtempo treat to listen to both before and after the party.
