kgrab.py

download kernels from kernel.org

Kgrab is a python script to download the source code for arbitrary kernel versions (bz2 or gz). It supports GeoIP/kernel.org mirrors to speedup downloads, and also allows you to just grab a changelog. kgrab.py can only grab kernels 1.0 and newer. If you specify a kernel that doesn't exist, you will get a 404 error.

Examples of usage:

[you@yours]$ kgrab.py 2.6.14 # downloads linux-2.6.14.tar.bz2
[you@yours]$ kgrab.py -g 2.4.25 # downloads linux-2.4.25.tar.gz
[you@yours]$ kgrab.py -c 2.6.16.1 # downloads ChangeLog-2.6.16.1

ToDo:

- Check for current kernels and download only patches, then patch.
